Choccywoccydoodah specialises in a highly stylised bespoke cake service, offering cakes that are hand-sculptured from chocolate. The cakes resemble high art, and a visit to the shop on Fouberts Place near Carnaby Street (there is also a store in Brighton) is well worth it to ogle at the skill of the craftsmanship. Hard to believe that these are cakes, and that the icing designs are sculpted from chocolate.
The bespoke service starts with a consultation with the customer to determine their ultimate desire. Prices depend on the level of the requirements but start from about £400. However, cakes can also be ordered from a selection of pre-existing designs which start from about £35. The cakes are truly amazing and would seem ideal for weddings and those very special occasions.
A visit to Choccywoccydoodah can be followed by a visit upstairs to the cafe which has a delightful little selection of treats and drinks. We adored the delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream (£3.50) and the chocolate cake served with ice cream and a raspberry coulis (£4.99).
The dipping pot (£5.99) of molten chocolate was served with sweet strawberries, marshmallows, honeycrumble and shortbread biscuits and proved to be mighty fun and yummy.
The Choccywoccydoodah ice cream sundae (£7.50) wasn’t bad, although the ice cream was a touch sugary and could have been creamier. Choccywoccydoodah makes for a lovely little trip for some fine art and a yummy sweet treat, even if a bespoke cake isn’t what you are necessarily looking for.
