UNCOVER – THE LASTMINUTE RESTAURANT APP

The difficulty with making last minute dinner reservations is that you can spend a lot of time trying to book a restaurant, only to find out that the restaurant has no availability. UNCOVER the lastminute restaurant app helps to get rid of this problem by only showing restaurants with availability on the same or next day.

I found out about UNCOVER through Krista from Passportdelicious.com. Uncover works by curating a highly selective list of cool places. The restaurants on the list then let Uncover know when they have last minute cancellations or no-shows. These pop up on the app allowing you to make your same-day or next-day reservation. Easy.

Uncover – The app

Uncover invited Krista and I to try the app in return for a £50 credit at the restaurant of our choosing. Krista chose Antidote in Soho and I chose The Duck and Rice, the latest Chinese Restaurant by design supremo Alan Yau. But more on The Duck and Rice later.

The Uncover app is very easy to use and the restaurants available are definitely some of the nicer, hipper and more happening places. Some of the restaurants bookable on the app include The Opera Tavern, Fera at Claridges, Locanda Locatelli, Coya and Rex & Mariano. You can also sort by neighbourhoods and other categories such as my ‘hidden gems’, ‘romantic restaurants’, ‘Michelin starred’ etc. There’s also a child friendly category that some might find useful.

Uncover also has a payment facility where you can add credit card details so that you can pay with the app. You can also leave reviews of restaurants on the app. But if there’s one thing that you can’t do with Uncover it’s that the app doesn’t let you have two bookings on the same night in case you feel like starters at one restaurant and mains at another.

All in all, if Uncover can help the restaurant industry recover bookings and revenue lost through no-shows and last minute cancellations, it’s a very good thing. You can download the app and check it out. At the very least, it’s a very well curated list of establishments so it will help you separate the wheat from the chaff when you’re looking for a great night out.
