Last week Häagen-Dazs organised an exclusive event to celebrate the craft of real ice cream, which was hosted by the lovely Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman, and Mecca Ibrahim of Great British Chefs. We were treated to a selection of especially created savoury canapés including a delicious prawn wonton with sweet chilli, smoked trout with pickled cucumber, and a wonderful fig, mascarpone, basil and balsamic dressing.

Also on the menu were some Häagen-Dazs inspired cocktails such as strawberry Rossini and a Brandy Alexander. Particularly delicious was the salted caramel martini as it was slightly salty and slightly sweet. And boy, did it pack a punch.

We then moved onto a vanilla ice cream making demonstration taken by Natalie Coleman. Served warm, the mixture can also be used as a delicious custard.

But the best part of the evening was the Häagen-Dazs ice cream tastings covering a range of flavours such as vanilla, salted caramel, strawberries & cream, Belgian chocolate, macadamia nut brittle, pralines & cream, mint leaves & chocolate, chocolate and pralines & caramel. My particular favourite has always been strawberries & cream, but the salted caramel was also pretty hard to beat! Now which Häagen-Dazs flavour is your favourite?
